Number of backlinks you need for PR 7
Once you initiate the process of building backlinks for your new site, probably you want to know where it all ends. Like many webmasters, you must be looking for page rank 3, 4 or even more and some good amount of traffic. Right?
But do you know how many backlinks it takes to get a good page rank?
Ok, let me explain it you with an example. Let’s say you got two sites:
One site with more than 1000 links from all websites with page rank less than 2 and the other got only one back link from a website of page rank 8. Who will get more page rank? Yes, you are right. The second website will probably get page rank 5 or even 6 with just one link backing it for one year.
Some weeks ago, I met with a guy who was so excited about success of his online business. He was getting around 2000 unique hits per month and there was also an increase in his page rank. He had around 30000 backlinks indexed in Yahoo. Whereas a friend of mine getting the same kind of success with not more than 200 backlinks.
So what’s theory behind these numbers? Is there any logic or just luck?
I guess that you are going to agree with me that it’s just a proper analysis and planning that make your link building campaign a success. Link building is not about only getting hundreds of link back to your site. It’s about getting linked from sites that are relevant and marked as quality (high page rank) sites by search engines.
It’s really simple to access the sites that got high page rank and relevant to your niche. Just search for your main keywords in your favorite search engine like Google, Yahoo or MSN. The sites listed at top are ranked high and likely most relevant to your keywords.
Once you get the list of relevant and high ranked websites, all you need is a backlink from these. There can be different ways of getting backlinks from these sites but the best is to just “ask” the webmasters of the sites for linking back to you.
I’m sure that if your site is good enough and got quality content and some traffic, they will like to link back to you. Sometime they ask for money or link exchange for backlink. I would recommend doing what ever you can afford to get linked from them. Sometime bargaining can be useful for getting links at lower prices.
